Waiting For Your GCSE Results? What to Do in the COVID Lockdown.

Is that it? So… results day for GCSE’s have been announced in August and we haven’t sat any exams to prepare for essentially what could determine the rest of our lives for many. How do I feel? It’s the least to say that I am very anxious about the time upcoming since I’m not particularly sure what results day could end up like, I come off the basis that hoping for the best is the correct answer. Or the fact that it’s our teachers that decide our grades. What could they possibly say about an individual pupil via ‘teach assessment grades’? How could they avoid potential bias? Not a lot has been said and it’s quite upsetting and a stressful time to think about.

What A Levels to pick is another topic of discussion. Since I plan to go for a career in medicine or dentistry, I will be thinking about my revision for the very important UCAT and BMAT examinations that I will have to sit and do well in (which is compulsory). I will be doing the classic combination of Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics along with Psychology. When choosing a sixth form I look for one thing in particular. That being the teachers. It is important to realise that a teacher is the ultimate determination of what grades a student could achieve (assuming the student puts in his full potential). If a student gets the most support he can from a teacher, he can do considerably well I believe. To conclude this, under these stressful times I wish everyone the best of hope. Stay safe!
